Way to go Mustangs! After a busy season of long course meets and two TAGS qualifying meets, we are sending to TAGS no less than 40 swimmers to represent our team. Many of the swimmers will be competing in individual events however, for the first time in the history of the team, we are sending swimmers for relays in every age group except the 11-12 year old boys. What is this achievement due to, you ask? It is the result of the hard work and dedication of the swimmers, and the talent, support and guidance and of our coaches. Every single one of our coaches deserves a big thank you and congratulations because it truly would not have been possible without them! To all you Championship swimmers, good luck at your meets and congratulations for your accomplishments!

A special pre-registration is planned for current DM swimmers. This is being done so you can avoid the rush, hassle and delays that are sometime unavoidable if you wait until the 1999-2000 swim season starts in September of 1999.
When will I get the details on Pre-registration?
A packet of information will be placed in each swimmer's folder by WEDNESDAY, JULY 28th. FOR THOSE FAMILIES WITH TWO OR MORE SWIMMERS, THE PACKETS WILL BE PLACED IN THE OLDER SWIMMER’S FOLDER AT THE POOL. Notices will also be placed on the team bulletin boards. Included in the packet will be pre-registration instructions; forms to be completed; a current statement of your dues balance (including August); and information on any changes to team policies or operation for the next swim season.
If you do not have a birth certificate, other documents that list the swimmer's date of birth and full legal name are accepted such as a passport, visa or drivers license. A photocopy of the document is fine.
No, if you have already provided us with a birth certificate you don't need to do it again.
No, only swimmers that have joined us since April of this year have been required to provide a birth certificate thus far. Please, wait until you register for the next swim season.
You will need to:
(1) Verify current records that we have for things such as name, address, phone number, etc.
(2) Provide a birth certificate
(3) Pay any outstanding dues balance
(4) Pay the 1999-2000 DM and USA Swimming Registration Fees
What if I can't register during the week of August 2?
Complete the registration packet and register during the week we return in early September. However, the swimmer may not participate in workouts until they are cleared through registration.
Please feel free to contact John Wherry, DM Registrar, at 972-418-1544 or send him an email at
jwherry@airmail.netWe would like to thank the following swimmers and their families for referring new swimmers to the Dallas Mustangs. Credits have been posted to the accounts of the following swimmers equal to one month's dues.
If there are any questions about this program, why you were, or were not listed, contact the DM Registration Chairperson, John Wherry, at 972-418-1544.
All swimmers and their families, who have worked our meets in the past, are rewarded with vouchers, which are applicable towards the swimmers’ dues. The vouchers for the January meet and the Mustang Classic at SMU have been calculated and will be placed in the swimmers’ folders at the pools. If there are questions regarding the vouchers please contact the Treasurer, George Cornelius at 972-416-4217.
The older swimmers from the Gold and National Groups (in conjunction with swimmers from LAC) have the opportunity to attend a training camp in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The plans are as follows: Swimmers will fly to Albuquerque on December 18th and drive up to Los Alamos in vans. They will return on December 22nd. Swimmers will participate in training sessions the majority of the time with an optional opportunity to go skiing one afternoon. The total cost for the trip is $400 (meals, entertainment and ski lift/equipment NOT included). A deposit of $15 should be given to Mook ASAP to reserve a spot. As with other team-sponsored events, chaperones are more than welcome. More information regarding the camp can be obtained from Mook at Loos.
Barb and Jack Knott have once again been gracious enough to offer to host an All Adult Dallas Mustangs Social. That means leave your kids and the chlorine behind, bring an hors d’ouevres and come to enjoy a fun evening getting to know other team parents. Just think, this is an opportunity to see other parents and the coaches in some attire other than sandals and shorts. Watch for more information and directions to the Knott household on the bulletin boards at the pool.
Monthly tuition is due the 1st of the month and late after the 10th of the month. If your tuition is not paid by the 10th, a $5.00 late fee will be added to your account. If tuition is not paid by the 1st of the following month, your swimmer may be barred from workouts until your account is current.
All Dallas Mustang members should keep in mind that August tuition is due by the 10th of the month. When you pay your dues on time it accomplishes two things: 1) it helps the club balance the year-end budget, which runs from September to August each year, and 2) it will also secure your spot on the team when we start in September. If dues have not been paid by August 10th, you will need to try-out for the team again and will run the risk of being put on the waiting list. So please help us out by getting those August payments in on time!
Remember to let all your friends know that main tryouts are scheduled for August 2nd – 5th and September 7th – 10th. Also, please examine the calendar closely. We will be on break for three weeks – that means NO workouts at either pool. Once we are back from break, the fall workout schedule will resume. If you have any questions regarding the calendar, check the hotline at 972-889-SWIM.
