The Dallas Mustangs would like to welcome the following new members joining us:

RickyAndro, Taylor Barinka, Nathan Dvorak, Ann Fenton, Jonathan Harper, Nicholas Harrison, Britt Heady, Natalie Hendrickse, Will Hoffman, Mary Larsen, Amelia Lin, Claire McCormick, Victoria Romejko, Adrian Sanvictores and Paul Trask

We are proud that you have chosen the Dallas Mustangs as your swim team!

TEAM TRIP

As most of you know by now, the team trip to Little Rock, Arkansas had to be cancelled. Apparently the pool that we were to swim at was not ready and was in the midst of repairs. Unfortunately that did not leave us any options for planning another trip at such short notice. If you have not received your deposit back yet, please speak with or call Adele Wherry.

INTRASQUAD MEET AND TEAM OUTING

On June 12th we will be having another intrasquad meet for the B/C swimmers at Highland Park Pool. Warm-ups for the meet will start at 9 a.m. A/BB swimmers in the National, Gold and Silver groups will have workouts from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. and then will stay to help run the meet and cheer on their teammates. At the conclusion of the meet, there will be a team outing to "Fun Fest" in Addison and once again, all family members are encouraged to participate. Swimmers will need money to play games, bowl, play laser tag etc. Please make an effort to attend! The zoo outing was lots of fun and this will be too! Watch for more details that will come home this week with the swimmers and for information on the bulletin boards.

NEW WEBSITE ADDRESS

We have a new website address and it's much easier to remember now! It's www.dmswim.com. Check it out! Please remember that the newsletter is posted on the web so if you cannot locate your newsletter, the information can be retrieved from our site. The calendar however, is NOT posted on the web but can be found on the bulletin boards at both pools.

TEAM POLICIES

Monthly Dues:

Monthly tuition fees are due the 1st of the month and late after the 10th of the month. If your fees are not paid by the 10th, a $5.00 late fee will be added to your account. If tuition is not paid by the 1st of the following month, your swimmer will be barred from workouts until your account is current.

All Dallas Mustang members should keep in mind that August tuition fees are due by the 10th of the month. When you pay your dues on time it accomplishes two things: 1) it helps the club balance the year-end budget, which runs from September to August each year, and 2) it will also secure your spot on the team when we start in September. If dues have not been paid by August 10th, you will need to try-out for the team again and will run the risk of being put on the waiting list. So please help us out by getting those August payments in on time!

Late Swimmer Pick-up:

There will be a financial penalty for arriving late to pick up your swimmer(s). Parents are expected to arrive at the pool at or before the designated ending time for their swimmer's workout. If a parent has not arrived to pick up their swimmer within 15 minutes after the scheduled ending time of the workout, a $15.00 late fee will be charged. This late charge will be paid directly to the coach who stayed with your swimmer. (This policy has been in effect since April of 1998).

TAGS HOTEL RESERVATIONS

This year's long course TAGS Championship Meet is once again going to be hosted by UT in Austin. At present, we have two hotels with block reservations for Dallas Mustangs swimmers and their families.

The Hawthorn Suites:

There are 4 one-bedroom ($109/night) and 4 two-bedroom ($129/night) suites reserved. The person to contact to reserve a suite is Janet Knippelmier at (512) 459-3335. The group block reservation will be held until July 13th at 3 p.m. After that date if you reserve with Hawthorne Suites you will not get the Dallas Mustangs rate.

The Hampton Inn:

There are 10 rooms reserved for our team under the block code "DM". The rate is $75/night. The group reservation rate will be held until July 6th. After that time, 4 rooms will be blocked until July 13th under the block code of "TAGS". The contact person at the Hampton Inn is Derenda Johnson and she can be reached at (512) 452-3300.

There may be other group reservations made in the near future for the team so watch the bulletin boards at the pool carefully for updates. Also, if your child is close to getting a TAGS qualifying time it would be wise to make a reservation just in case! You can always cancel a reservation but it may be more difficult to get one later on.

GOOD NEIGHBOR PROGRAM

The Dallas Mustangs is registered with Tom Thumb in its Good Neighbor Program. What this means is that Tom Thumb will donate a percentage of the member's total grocery purchases back to the Dallas Mustangs. All that you need to do is to go to any Tom Thumb and apply for a Reward Card. When you check out, give the cashier your Reward Card and tell him/her that the Dallas Mustangs Good Neighbor number is 7648. (If your family already has a Reward Card simply have the cashier attach the DM number to it). Then every time you shop at any Tom Thumb in the future, and use your Reward Card, the purchase price of your groceries will be recorded to the Dallas Mustangs Good Neighbor account. Tom Thumb will keep a running total of our purchases and a percentage will be sent back to us as a donation. If you are already linked with another organization you can still attach the Dallas Mustangs account to your card. The total purchases will be split between both organizations.
