MEET RECAPS

LAC BB Winter Solstice Invite (Jan 16 – 18)

Almost forty of our Mustangs went up to the Keller Natatorium to try and knock out some best times and that we did.  More than half of the swims in the meet were lifetime bests and we saw some of our swimmers get new “A” time standards as well!  We finished 4th out of 19 teams in the North Texas Area.

Below is the list of those who collected some hardware and earned points for the team! Those whose names are bolded won at least one individual event. Great job Mustangs!

TRS B/C Division 1 & 2 (Jan 23 – 25)

Both of the North Texas area B/C divisions squared off at the Grapevine pool and sixty of our kids went up and gave it their best shot at swimming faster than they had ever done so before. We did a pretty good job of doing just that.  Only one of the swimmers who went there failed to have at least one best time!  We finished 5th out of 22 teams only 1 point out of 4th and 9 points out of 3rd!  Mustangs rock again!

COPS Greater Southwest Meet (Feb 6 – 8)

Ninety-four of our swimmers with at least one “A” time standard swam in this prelim/final ultra competitive meet right in the middle of many high school district and regional finals.  It was a great team effort individually and collectively (relays). We finished a strong 3rd out of 22 teams many of which were not only out of this region but also out of this state!

Below is a list of those who scored points at the meet for the team.  Those whose names are bolded stood at the top of the podium at least one time at this meet.  Way to go Mustangs!!!

Chesapeake Elite Pro-Am

The last meet for the Mustangs of the 2008 calendar was the Chesapeake Swim Club Elite Pro-Am in Oklahoma City.  This is annually a fun meet to attend because the meet offers prize money to the top three finishers in each event.  Pro athletes take this in the form of cold, hard cash, while the amateurs receive vouchers for merchandise at D&J Sports.  And because of the prize money, the meet attracts some of the top athletes/Olympians in the country.  The following are the Mustangs that finished in the top 16 and scored points towards our second place team finish.

Annual Team Banquet

Please mark your calendars for Sunday, May 3, 2009 for the Dallas Mustangs Team Banquet starting at 5:00 PM.  The video slide show production is one of the swimmers' favorite part of the evening.  To create this video production we need your help.  We need photos of not only your swimmer(s) but any other fun photos of teammates, coaches and members of the Mustang family.  Digital photos would be best but we will work with whatever you have.  The upcoming championship meets are great photo opportunities.  The kids love seeing their pictures on the screen so if you are planning on attending the banquet please consider getting some photos to Barb Beckwitt at bbbeckwitt@aol.com or send discs or prints to Barb at

4906 Deloache Ave., Dallas, TX 75220

For swimmers who are seniors this year, please provide 5 or 6 photos of your choice for the senior part of the banquet.  In the past, many graduating swimmers have used baby pictures up through their senior year photo.  Also please e-mail Barb Beckwitt the following information: current high school, college or next year's plans, number of years as a Dallas Mustang, favorite Mustang memory and any other information they would like on their senior page i.e., hobbies, siblings or interests.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Barb by e-mail or by phone at (214) 750-7325.

Pool Policy

To reiterate the pool policy, you must swim at the pool you registered for.  If there is an extenuating circumstance and you want to swim at a different facility one night you must get permission from head coach, Mook Rhodenbaugh, if you want to swim at Loos (regardless of what group your child is in) and you must get permission from head age group coach, Doug Moyse, if you want to swim at Highland Park.  If your swimmer simply shows up they will not be allowed to swim.  Any swimmer who wants to swim at KC is welcome and encouraged to do so at any time without permission.

Thank you Mustang Parents

A HUGE "Thank You" to everyone who volunteered at the A Champs meet last month including those who brought homemade food to our outstanding hospitality area.  We could not have run this meet without the generous efforts of so many Mustang families!  We extend an extra note of thanks to all those families who offered more help than the minimum requirement. Several families worked two or more sessions and we really needed and appreciate your extra effort; we could not have done it without you!  Special thanks to Deva and Farrel Fontenot and Amy Weeks for managing entries and the computer operations, Greg Seidel for managing the timing system and setup/break down for the meet and to Sharon and Milt Hilgartner for managing Hospitality.  Our sincere thanks to all of you for helping the Mustangs run another successful meet!

Tuition Policy

The Dallas Mustangs is a competitive year round age-group swimming program.  As such we strive to provide consistent quality coaching and workout facilities.  To achieve this goal we establish pool rental contracts and salary commitments with our coaching staff for a full 12-month period.  The Dallas Mustangs Swim Team is not, and was not designed to be a swim program where swimmers drop in one month and out the next.  Flexibility has always been important to us.  We try to work with each family on the team and we will continue to do so.

Tuition may be paid annually or monthly.  Monthly Tuition must be paid via  credit card only.  NO checks will be accepted at any pools or through the mail.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Annual tuition may be paid by check submitted with your registration form.

·        Tuition is due from September through July.

·        Leave of Absence (LOA) is available only for injury and medical reasons.

·        There will be a $10.00 per month discount for the second and subsequent swimmers in the same family.  The fourth swimmer is free.

·        If dues are paid annually, there will be a $110.00 discount for the second swimmer and a $220.00 discount for the third swimmer. If there are more than 3 swimmers; the three highest tuition rates will be billed and the 4th and subsequent swimmers are free.

·        A swimmer transferring from another team must be in good standing with their old team.

·        Tuition is due the first of every month. There will be a $5.00 per family late fee after the 10th of the month for non-zero balance accounts.

·        There are no tuition refunds, tuition paid for the month or the year commits you for that period.
