MEET RECAPS

DM A & BB Champs (Feb 15 – 17)

The Dallas Mustangs stepped up to the plate and hosted both the BB Champs and the A Champs simultaneously at opposite ends of Loos pool.  Despite a huge number of athletes in both meets (a total of over 1000 swimmers) our parents plus our new meet directors Dee Koranda and Jan Miller did an outstanding job of keeping both meets going on the timelines.  We had 45 swimmers in the BB meet and finished a respectable 5th place out of 20 teams entered.  We also placed 5th in the A meet with 61 swimmers, although many of these swimmers only competed in a few events.

The teams that finished top 4 in both meets had significantly more individual swims and scored many points on relays.  We chose not to compete in the relays at all in the ‘A’ meet since many of our swimmers were trying to make individual cuts and we had limited relays in the BB meet. This allowed many of the Mustangs to remain fresher for their individual swims. Most of our swimmers swam great and many dropped in every event they participated in.

Below is a list of swimmers who scored in the meets.  Those swimmers who won at least one event have their names in italics.  Congratulations to all for a great team effort! Not only in the water, but also pulling off the enormous challenge of running both meets at once!  This was a feat that only the Mustangs could pull off!

B/C Champs (Feb 29 – Mar 2)

Fifty-one of our brave B/C swimmers ventured up to the Colony to swim in this championship meet which was run by LAC.  We finished 8th out of 21 teams despite very few relay entries.  Only 2 out of all of our swimmers did not record at least one best time!  One of the two kids that didn’t hadn’t been to a workout in quite some time so maybe it does pay to go to practice!

Those swimmers who scored points in the meet are listed below.  Many of our B/C swimmers swam great and got their 3 10 & U BB times to move up to the next group.  Congratulations to our Bronze coaches Karen, Jeff, and Bob.  Let’s keep it going!

Mason Arhelger (9), Tate Arhelger (12), Davis Benn (11), Parker Benn (8), Carolina Campbell (9), Nolan Daniels (11), Patrick Daniels (9), Caroline Forgess (8), Amanda Fugate (10), Christianna Hass (10), Mikaela Johnson (10), Siobhan Kelley (12), Tara Lalvani (9), Cameron Malakoff (11), Gordon Montgomery(9), Andrea Mora (10), Natalie Morris (10), Spencer Rhodenbaugh (6), Charlotte Rolfe (11), Shauna Seidel (10), Jena Seidemann (10), Mary-Carolyn Sloan (9), Alex Tcheng (8), Madeline Tovar (9), Annelyse Tullier (11), Jo Jo Veazey (11), Elizabeth Wessman (8), Jackson Yancey (8)

Texas Age Group Champs (Mar 6 – 9)

TAGS was held this year at Loos and run by the North Texas LSC (Local Swim Committee). We finished a solid 12th place, only ½ point behind the 11th place team.  A great night of relay performances on the last night almost moved us up to a coveted top ten finish.  We scored for the first time in my memory in 5 of the 6 age groups on the last night of the relays.  It was fun to watch and certainly great news for the future of our age group program.  Great job to all of our coaches!

Individually we were led by Taylor Temple who won 4 events.  In addition to Taylor, we had 10 other Mustangs scoring individual points.  Congratulations to all of our kids who stepped up on relays and found a way to swim faster than they thought was possible.  Below is a list of those Mustangs who qualified for the meet in an individual event.  Those that scored points are in italics and those that won events are bolded and in italics. Mustangs Rock!

Christopher Alkire (14), Luke Blaylock (12), Caroline Florence (10), Erin Florence (13), Tiffany Futscher (10), Audrey Gruber (11), Jacey Hodan (14), Alvin Jiang (9), Avery Kesterson (10), Caitlin Klemme (12), Kenzie Murphy (11), Sam Murphy (14), Lauren Murski (12), Courtney Nichols (12), Adam Rathjen (10), Natalie Rathjen (12), Hector Rivera (11), Taylor Temple (14), Leon Tjahjono (14), Harrison Tran (12), Liam Veazey (14), Jake Watters (12)

USS Sectionals at Texas A&M (Feb 28 – Mar 2)

This year’s 2008 United States Short Course Sectional Championships in College Station brought together 90 teams from eight states and a handful of teams from Mexico.  Our 28 swimmers battled well during the competition, but the Dallas Mustangs came up just short in defending their Sectional championship crown from last summer.  However, the Mustangs did take home both of the individual high point honors for women (Spindrift Beck) and men (Matt Thompson), and the Mustangs won 11 out of the 24 individual events.  There were also several meet records broken by Mustangs - Spindrift Beck (3), Matt Thompson (2), Allison Arnold (1), and Caleb Veazey (1).  Great Job Mustang Sectional Team!!!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Tuition Policy

The Dallas Mustangs is a competitive year round age-group swimming program.  As such we strive to provide consistent quality coaching and workout facilities.  To achieve this goal we establish pool rental contracts and salary commitments with our coaching staff for a full 12-month period.  The Dallas Mustangs Swim Team is not, and was not designed to be a swim program where swimmers drop in one month and out the next.  Flexibility has always been important to us.  We try to work with each family on the team and we will continue to do so.

Tuition may be paid annually or monthly.  Monthly Tuition must be paid via electronic bank draft or credit card only.  NO checks will be accepted at any pools or through the mail.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Annual tuition may be paid by check submitted with your registration form.

·        Tuition is due from September through July.

·        Leave of Absence (LOA) is available only for injury and medical reasons.

·        There will be a $10.00 per month discount for the second and subsequent swimmers in the same family.  The fourth swimmer is free.

·        If dues are paid annually, there will be a $110.00 discount for the second swimmer and a $220.00 discount for the third swimmer. If there are more than 3 swimmers; the three highest tuition rates will be billed and the 4th and subsequent swimmers are free.

·        A swimmer transferring from another team must be in good standing with their old team.

·        Tuition is due the first of every month. There will be a $5.00 per family late fee after the 10th of the month for non-zero balance accounts.

·        There are no tuition refunds, tuition paid for the month or the year commits you for that period.

·        Written communication to the DM Treasurer is required to change or stop automatic billing.

·        The swimmer(s) may be barred from swimming if there is an aged account balance is excess of 60 days.

Any questions regarding billing should be addressed to the team treasurer via e-mail

Meet Entry Policy:

Meet entry fees will be paid by credit card only.  Your credit card will be charged monthly.  There will be a $1.00 surcharge per meet per swimmer added to the fee.  Meet entry fees will be charged separate from tuition charges.  All swimmers must maintain a current and up to date meet entry account.   Swimmers who do not provide valid credit card information for meet entry fees will not be allowed to enter swim meets.
