Meet Recaps
2006 DM “A” Mustang Classic
On the weekend of May 5-7th,
the Mustangs hosted our annual DM Classic at the outdoor SMU pool, a very familiar
pool to the Gold and National groups. The meet was organized in 4
sessions—Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday
morning. Although Saturday afternoon brought light rain, clouds, and winds, the
meet went on despite some very cold athletes. The Mustangs had a fantastic
showing, placing 1st out of 20 competing teams with 1083.5 points,
more than 200 points higher than the nearest competitor, COPS!!! Many DM
swimmers placed in the top eight and helped their team to victory. Listed below

at least one event):

2006 NT COPS B/C Division 2 Meet
The Mustang B/C swimmers stepped it up
at the B/C Short Course Invitational, held on May 20th and 21st,
2006. DM finished a strong 3rd place. Swimmers who had not yet
achieved ‘BB’ or ‘B’ time standards attended this meet and several Mustangs
achieved at least one new time standard. These swimmers will now have the
opportunity to compete at higher levels of competition and/or swim in long
course meets. Congratulations to all swimmers who participated in the meet!

The Rose City Invitational, held
in
2nd-4th, 2006, was a great opportunity for Mustangs to swim fast and have
fun. Forty five Mustangs were at the Fun Forrest Pool in
allowed both A and BB swimmers to compete together but be scored separately.
Between sessions, Mustangs hung out at their hotels, ate at the popular Dairy
Queen, and rested for their events. Drinking water was especially important at
this outdoor meet as the
temperature was in the high 90's and dehydration was a threat. Overall,

very well, winning many of the women’s and men’s events and placing in the top

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
DASA Divisional and All-Stars Meet (July 12th, 13th and 17th)
Every year, the Dallas Mustangs host the DASA
Divisional and All-Star Championship swim meets. These meets bring
together approximately 1,800 recreational summer swimmers for the final meets
of their summer season. The Dallas Mustangs host these meets as a
fundraiser for our team in that the DASA League pays us to host these meets.
The success of these meets is also an important recruiting tool for the Dallas
Mustangs because we have the opportunity to meet some of the best recreational
swimmers in the
Additionally, the Mustangs Bucks volunteer
awards program provides for double Mustang Bucks when
volunteering at the DASA Fundraiser Swim Meet. Therefore, a volunteer may
earn $20.00 in Mustang Bucks for volunteering 5 - 10 hours, and $50.00 for
volunteering greater than 10 hours. (There is still a maximum Mustang
Buck limit of two (2) credits per family for the event.)
We would like to encourage everyone, parents and swimmers, to volunteer in some way to help with the
DASA Championship Swim Meets
The Division meets will be Wednesday and Thursday, July
12 and 13. There will be two sessions each day, the warm-up for the
morning sessions beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the warm-up for the afternoon
sessions beginning at 12:00 noon (or as soon as the morning session
finishes). The All Star meet will be
held on Monday, July 17. The warm-up will start at 2:00 p.m. followed by
the Parade of Stars. The meet will begin promptly at the conclusion of
the Parade of Stars.
Volunteers are needed for the following
positions/committees:
Set up: this will be done the evening of July 11. We
need people to set up the timing equipment, PA, etc. Meet at Loos at 4:00 p.m. for this event.
Timing
operations: We need people to work
the timing operations during the DASA meets. This is not work as a
timer. The teams will provide timers. This is work with the
electronic timing equipment.
Computers: We need people to work with Adele Wherry and Amy Weeks to run the computers. This would
include runners to post results, and to get the heat and lane assignments to
the deck.
Officials/Referees: We need people to work with Victor Kimm to assist with stroke and turn, starting, timing
judges, finish judges, etc. You do not have to be a USS qualified
official to be an official at these meets. Basic knowledge of swimming and
strokes is all that is needed.
Awards: We need people who can process awards.
Hospitality: We need people who will go to the store and
purchase the supplies, set up, and run hospitality. They will need to
work with outside suppliers (i.e. Dominoes, Sonny Bryan's, etc. to have food
brought in)
Other
positions: Head timers, heat sheet
sales, head safety marshals, runners, miscellaneous.
Tear down: We need people to stay the evening of July 17
after the meet is over to pack up and put up.

Tuition Policy Reminder
The Dallas
Mustangs is a competitive year round age-group swimming program. As such we strive to provide consistent
quality coaching and workout facilities.
To achieve this goal we establish pool rental contracts and salary
commitments with our coaching staff for a full 12-month period. Tuition amounts
are established based on the 12-month budget and divided into monthly or
quarterly amounts to provide reasonable payment options for our Dallas Mustang
families. The Dallas Mustangs Swim Team
is not, and was not designed to be a swim program where swimmers drop in one
month and out the next. Flexibility has
always been important to us. We try to
work with each family on the team and we will continue to do so.
Tuition may be paid
quarterly: September, December, March, and June, or monthly. Tuition paid monthly includes a $5.00 per
month processing fee. (If tuition for
the quarter is not paid by the due date, monthly payment has automatically been
selected.)
·
Tuition
is due from September through August.
(If you swim in July, you are responsible for August tuition.)
·
Tuition
is due on the 1st of each month/quarter.
·
Leave of Absence (LOA) is available only
for injury and medical reasons.
·
There
will be a $10.00 per month tuition discount for the second and subsequent
swimmers in the same family. The fourth
swimmer is free, but all swimmers must pay the annual registration fee.
·
A
swimmer transferring from another team must be in good standing with their old
team.
·
Statements
are only mailed quarterly. If you have chosen to pay monthly, it is your
responsibility to remember to mail or drop off tuition by the first of each
month that we do not send statements.
·
There
will be a $5.00 per family late fee after the 10th of the month for non-zero
balance accounts.
·
The swimmer(s) may be barred from
swimming if there is an aged account balance is excess of 60 days.
·
Please
indicate in the memo portion of all checks what the payment is for (i.e. Dues –
swimmer’s name, meet account, supplies, etc.).
·
If
there is a problem with your billing, please contact the treasurer.
·
Should
circumstances prevent full payment of your tuition, please contact the
president. Scholarships and alternate
payment plans will be addressed on a case by case basis. (Please Note: Lack of communication is not an
option!)
·
Should
you choose to leave the team – it is your responsibility to contact the
treasurer or registration chairman.
(Informing the coach does not fulfill this responsibility!)
·
If you choose to leave the team for the
summer, you must go through the tryout process in the fall. You may not return
to workouts until you have attended the tryout, completed paperwork and paid
your fees. You are not automatically
guaranteed a spot on the team. If your group is full, your name will be placed
on the waiting list. Any tuition/fee
balances that were not paid when you left the team must be paid prior to re-joining
the team.
·
If
you choose to leave the team at any point during the year, you MAY NOT
represent the Dallas Mustangs at any swim meet or event that occurs after the
date you have left the team. Should you choose to participate in a swim meet
after you have left the team, you must register for the meet and swim as
unattached (Team = UN).
·
Tuition
may be sent with the swimmer to the pool, or mailed to the Treasurer:
DM
Treasurer – Shannon Rusch
