the meet with more than 900 points.
Almost all of the DM swimmers waited it out on Sunday and swam short
course yards in the SMU Indoor Facility. |
All of the Mustangs who helped their team win the meet by scoring points are listed below, and those who won their event are italicized (ages are in parenthesis following the names). Awesome job, DM!

Senior
Circuit #1 North Long Course Meet
|
|
The
first Senior Circuit Long Course Meet was held at the Keller ISD pool from
May 14-16th, 2005. Because of conflicting meets and busy
schedules, there were very few swimmers attending the meet. Swimmers often
had less than 10 minutes rest between events, and only 8 Mustangs attended
the meet. They were Bri Barfield,
Kelsey Craggett, Hannah Ferrin, Meredith Grubb, Alex Jennings, Alicia
Stevens, Meaghan Watters and John Bannon.
In addition to those swimmers, several college swimmers also
represented DM, including Jennifer and Candace Blackman, Katie Roberts, and
Leane Darling. |
BB
Long Course Invitational
On the
weekend of May 13th-15th, ATAC and the Nadadores hosted
the BB Long Course Invitational at Keller ISD. The Mustangs finished a strong 4th
out of 20 teams with 240 points. Special congratulations to DM swimmers who
achieved at least one new “A” time at this meet: Miyo Malouf, Luke Blaylock,
Courtney Nichols, Lauren Hill, Skylar Clark-Fernandez, Maddie Nieberlein, and
Allison Whitehead. In addition to the names listed above, others who scored
points were:
Meagan Keesee (15), Sarah Blue (14), Matney Rolfe (16), Clyde Rembert (16), Evan Sadler (16), Megan Ernst (12), and Michael Withers (15). Congratulations on an awesome meet!

Point Recreation Center, the meet lasted two days and was open to all
swimmers who hadn’t yet achieved “A” or “BB” times. Listed below are swimmers
who scored points with those in italics winning an event. |

of the meet. DM swimmers relaxed
between events under one of the multiple Mustang tents or played in the mini
water-park behind the deck. Those who scored points are listed below. If they
won, their names are italicized. Great swimming, Mustangs! |

DASA Divisional and All-Stars Meet (July
13th, 14th and 18th)
Every year, the Dallas Mustangs host the DASA Divisional and All-Star
Championship swim meets. These meets bring together approximately 1,800
recreational summer swimmers for the final meets of their summer season.
The Dallas Mustangs host these meets as a fundraiser for our team in that the
DASA League pays us to host these meets. This year the dates/times for
the meets are as follows:
|
Wednesday, July 13th |
Division C: warm-up at 8 a.m.,
meet runs 9 a.m. – Noon Division B: warm-up at Noon, meet runs 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. |
|
Thursday, July 12th |
Division D & E: warm-up at 8 a.m., meet runs 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Division A: warm-up at Noon, meet runs 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. |
|
Wednesday, July 18th |
All-Stars: warm-up at 3:00 p.m., meet runs 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. |
Note: All meet finish times are approximate and are based on last years' entries.
As you are all aware, it takes many volunteers to host and successfully run a swim meet of this size. In addition to our parent volunteers, we also allow many of our swimmers to volunteer at these meets in areas such as ready bench, runners, awards, etc. This activity allows our swimmers to gain an important appreciation for the volunteer efforts that go into each and every swim meet that they attend.
The success of these meets is also an important recruiting tool for the Dallas Mustangs as we have the opportunity to meet some of the best recreational swimmers in the Dallas area. Many of these swimmers may also be considering joining a year round swim program, and through these swim meets, the Dallas Mustangs are their first USA Swimming contact.
Additionally, the Mustangs Bucks volunteer awards program provides for double Mustang Bucks when volunteering at the DASA Fundraiser Swim Meet. Therefore, a volunteer may earn $20.00 in Mustang Bucks for volunteering 5 - 10 hours, and $50.00 for volunteering greater than 10 hours. (There is still a maximum Mustang Buck limit of two (2) credits per family for the event.)
We would like to encourage everyone, parents and swimmers, to volunteer
in some way to help with the DASA Championship Swim Meets. Parents, you
can volunteer by sending an email to either Jim Cuaderes (Meet Director) or Eric Futscher. At this point, our areas of
need are not those that require experience. Simply helping by being a runner
(posting results, picking up lane timer cards etc., and working in hospitality)
would be tremendously helpful. Swimmers should sign up to volunteer at this
meet with either Coach Mook or Coach Doug. This is one of those
opportunities to work together as a team and get to know many of the other
members of the team a little better.
Remember - NO Experience is Necessary, We provide On
The JOB Training.
DASA
Heat Sheet Advertising Opportunity
There is
an opportunity to have your team or business advertised in the DASA Divisional
and All-Star heat sheets. DASA is the
Dallas Amateur Swimming Association whose membership includes thirty six summer
recreational country club and neighborhood association swim teams. The DASA Divisional and All-Star
Championship meets have approximately 1800 participating swimmers and are
well-attended by families from all over the DFW Metroplex. These swimming
families are potential clients for businesses run/owned etc. by our swimming
families. This is also an opportunity to show your team spirit. If you or anyone you know would like to
place an ad in the DASA Championship heat sheets, please fill out the following
advertising contract and directions for payment etc. The ads will run in five
heat sheets, during the week of July 13 – 18, 2005 providing a lot of exposure!

DM
Tuition Policy Reminder:
The Dallas
Mustangs is a competitive year round age-group swimming program. As such we strive to provide consistent
quality coaching and workout facilities.
To achieve this goal we establish pool rental contracts and salary
commitments with our coaching staff for a full 12-month period. Tuition amounts
are established based on the 12-month budget and divided into monthly or
quarterly amounts to provide reasonable payment options for our Dallas Mustang
families. The Dallas Mustangs Swim Team
is not, and was not designed to be a swim program where swimmers drop in one
month and out the next. Flexibility has
always been important to us. We try to
work with each family on the team and we will continue to do so.
Tuition
may be paid quarterly: September, December, March, and June, or monthly. Tuition paid monthly includes a $5.00 per
month processing fee. (If tuition for
the quarter is not paid by the due date, monthly payment has automatically been
selected.)
·
Tuition is
due from September through August. (If you swim in July, you are responsible
for August tuition.)
·
Tuition is
due on the 1st of each month/quarter.
·
Leave of Absence (LOA) is available only
for injury and medical reasons.
·
There will
be a $10.00 per month discount for the second and subsequent swimmers in the same
family. The fourth swimmer is free.
·
A swimmer
transferring from another team must be in good standing with their old team.
·
Tuition is only billed quarterly.
·
There will
be a $5.00 per family late fee after the 10th of the month for non-zero balance
accounts.
·
The swimmer(s) may be barred from
swimming if there is an aged account balance is excess of 60 days.
·
Please
indicate in the memo portion of all checks what the payment is for (i.e. Dues –
swimmer’s name, meet account, supplies, etc.).
·
If there
is a problem with your billing, please contact the treasurer.
·
Should
circumstances prevent full payment of your tuition, please contact the
president. Scholarships and alternate
payment plans will be addressed on a case by case basis. (Please Note: Lack of communication is not
an option!)
·
Should you
choose to leave the team – it is your responsibility to contact the treasurer
or registration chairman. (Informing
the coach does not fulfill this responsibility!)
·
Tuition
may be sent with the swimmer to the pool, or mailed to the Treasurer:
