Meet Entries
Did you know that you can
find meet information for all of our local meets at the North Texas Swimming
website? Just go to www.ntswim.org then
click on to the link
“Meet Information” in the menu column. There you will find information on
upcoming meets. This is a great tool to use to enter meets, instead of relying
on your swimmer to bring home the meet information, (which usually ends up in a
soggy mess in the pocket of a swim bag). PLEASE
NOTE THAT THE DUE DATE FOR YOU TO TURN IN YOUR ENTRIES TO US IS DIFFERENT THAN
WHAT THE MEET INFORMATION STATES. The reason for this is that it takes
Coach Doug, our entry coordinator, some time to organize our entries and submit
them to the meet host, by their posted deadline. In other words, please ignore
the entry deadline that is printed on the meet information on the website. We
will be sending out reminders with the corrected entry deadline date.
Another important link is
the following: click on http://www.ntswim.org/misc.html
(under “LSC Resources”), and you can download a copy of the “Consolidated Entry
Form”. The direct link to the form is: http://www.ntswim.org/meetinfo/north_texas_consolidated_entry.pdf. This form can be printed out and turned in
(along with your meet check) at the pool.
I would strongly encourage you to explore the NT website. It
will keep you well aware of what is happening
in Texas with our great
sport!
The following are the due dates for all of the local meets
through December 2002:

Welcome Megan Keele!
We have a new coach
on board. Megan Keele has recently joined our staff as the coach of the Red
Group at CFB. Welcome Megan!
Haunted Hat Meet
As everyone who attended or worked
the Haunted Hat Meet already knows, we once
again, hosted a very successful meet! It was very well attended and everything
went extremely smoothly, thanks to the many
volunteers, both parent and swimmer. Those people who chaired committees such
as computers, hospitality, awards, timing system, clerk-of-course
and ready bench, deserve a big applause for organizing their volunteers! Way to
go Mustangs!
Team Spirit Bags
Just in case anyone is interested the team has 8 Family Fun
Spirit Bags available for purchase. The bags are loaded with spirit items and
are a great way to organize yourself before coming to a meet (it can carry
food, magazines, newspapers, heat sheets – everything to make
your time in the bleachers more enjoyable!) The cost of each bag is $74.60 with
tax. Please contact Carolyn at Harmen
Bollen's office at (972) 478-2839.
Swim-A-Thon Information
Coming soon to your location, information on the
Swim-A-Thon! Yes folks, on Wednesday, November
6th, you should be looking for SAT
information (not the test) that your child will be provided at the pool. We are
truly hoping for 100% participation from the swimmers. It promises to be fun
and competitive for the swimmers, so please encourage your swimmers to
participate. Also, if you do not receive a SAT packet,
please ask your child about it, check
in your child’s folder at the pool, ask
his/her coach or contact Harmon Bollen at Hbollen@aol.com
Thanks!
Big Kicker, Little Kicker
This program is looking for
help! The Kicker program is geared to promote team
building and team spirit. In the past, older swimmers were paired with younger
swimmers. This year the program will work as
swim groups. The committee will work with the
swim coaches to plan spirit activities between groups. In order to have all
involved, parents from all three pools should make
up the committee. I will set a meeting TBA. Please contact Cindy Woods
972-781-1217 if you are interested.

Social News
Our annual picnic was a great success! Even the weather cooperated.
A total of 265 dinners were served, making
this the best attended picnic in recent memory. An extra thank
you was earned by some special volunteers for helping to organize and run this
event. Theresa and Greg Marshall did a great job at check-in.
Michael Hill handled distribution of yard signs and stickers,
and Harmen Bollen organized and provided
equipment for the tug of war. Thanks
should also go to Doug Moyse, Janet Roth, and Lauren Roth for helping with the
set-up. A number of parents provided folding tables and/or helped clean
up the park after the picnic. We really
appreciate all your assistance!
Our next event will be a holiday party for our swimmers. The event is
scheduled for Monday, December 23,
2002 at Highland Park.
More details will be announced in the next month or so, but please
reserve the evening on your calendars now. We require lots of volunteers for
this holiday party. Please email Stuart Roth
at social@dmswim.com if you can help.

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under
heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Dearest DM Family,
I thank God for you and the outpouring of
love, cards and expressed sorrow that you have given me during the
homecoming and celebration of my Dad's passing. You have no idea how
you have touched my heart. Many of you have walked
this road with me the past two years as he struggled with many health issues
and watched as God performed spiritual heart surgery on him. The prayers that
were lifted up for him, as he attested, were felt and he was a transformed
man through those prayers. Words can't even describe the joy of knowing
my dad is with the Lord now. He fought the good fight; he finished the race;
and by the grace of God he kept the faith.
He was so proud of our team and he boasted to many, of the home I have
found with all of you. I want you all to know
that he prayed for this team daily and he loved hearing how our kids
were doing. This is one thing I have missed this weekend,
for it was during my weekend calls home,
that the first thing he would ask is,”How
did the team do? And how did your kids
swim?” Being a swim coach himself, we always had something to talk
about or he had a new idea for me...granted I didn't always agree with those
ideas or I was already doing it, but it was his way of encouraging me. Thank
you so much for coming alongside me during this season of great loss in my
life and thank you for the prayers that have
kept me together as I coach. I also want to
thank you for the numerous donations that
were made in my dad's name for Jody Hesler. Her ministry in the Ukraine
has been blessed richly because of you...Jody thanks
you and my family thanks you.
Just a side note: I want to thank all of the
parents and kids who volunteered this past
weekend at our meet and how blessed I am to
be involved with a team that feels so much, and is, like
a family to me. In the 20 years I have had here and in Ohio
and all the meets I have been to, I have never seen any team pull together like
we do to run such a well organized and fun time. I have also never seen so
many of the hosting teams swimmers take time
out to help in the capacity that our kids
do. I am so proud to be a coach of this Dallas
Mustangs Team and it is my prayer that we would set this example for our LSC
and beyond. One of my kids this season when
asked on his goal sheet "When you
think of Dallas
Mustang Swimming, what is the first thing that pops into your head?" he
said, “A united and humble team of committed athletes." He could not
have said it any better. I know I have
said this already but I am proud to be a Mustang and I am grateful for
the team of coaches that I have enjoyed and love working
with and the parents that I have had the joy of building relationships with
and the kids that God has blessed me with to
train and to encourage on a daily basis. Thank
you again for all that you do and all you have done.
