Powerful High School Mustangs Shine!

The Dallas Mustang high school swimmers showed their strength at various District, Regional and State level competitions during February 2000!

In the TAPPS State Competition, Clare Williams, swimming for Ursaline Acadamy brought home state champion medals in the 200Y freestyle and 100Y backstroke. Clare, along with Megan Bolanz contributed heavily to Ursaline's second place state finish.

In the TCIL State Competition, Andrew Hansen, swimming for Jesuit Prep won the state championship in the 200Y freestyle. The 200Y freestyle relay team, totally filled by Dallas Mustangs, was victorious also. Jesuit, heavily powered by Dallas Mustang swimmers place second overall in the state. Mustang team members pushing Jesuit were Jeff Girard, Eric Gusa, Jeff Shipp, Greg Henderson, Devlin McCormick and Andrew Hansen.

In Public School Division 5A, District Champions and/or Regional Finalists from the Mustangs included Ashley Cox, Chris Graham, Josh Pringle, Amy Danchik, Debbie Forinash, Sara Haney, Oscar Masters, Courtney Patterson, Warren Renick, Sarah Wells and Kenneth Wherry.

In Public School Division 4A, District Champions and/or Regional Finalists from the Mustangs included Charlie Morris, Jason Luter, Dennis Bowsher, Megan McNamara and Brian Stephens.

Mustangs moving on to compete in State Finals from both Division 4A and 5A are Amy Danchik, Debbie Forinash, Sara Haney, Courtney Patterson, Charlie Morris, Warren Renick, Sarah Wells, Jason Luter, Dennis Bowsher, Megan McNamara and Brian "Norm" Stephens.

At the State Championships the Mustangs continued to shine. Brian Stephens led the Highland Park Men's team to the 4A State Championship. Brian brought home a double victory, winning the 100Y Breaststroke and the 200Y Medley. Brian and Jason Luter swam on the HP relay teams taking second in the state. Courtney Patterson placed third in the 5A 100Y Backstroke recording her second consecutive Senior qualifying time in this event. Courtney Patterson and Sara Haney made up half of the Plano West 200 Medley Relay taking 6th in 5A. Amy Danchik led off the Plano High School Women's relay team taking home a 5A Gold. Mustangs also swimming in the finals were Charlie Morris of Woodrow Wilson who finished 6th in the 4A 100Y Backstroke; Dennis Bowsher of WT White finishing 6th in the 4A 100Y Breaststroke; and, Megan McNamara with a 5th in the 4A 100Y Freestyle and a Gold as a member of the HP 400Y Free Relay.
