Long Course Championships

At the BB Championships in Plano, TX the Mustangs swam their way to an 8th place finish.  30 Mustang swimmers competed at the meet and achieved numerous new ‘A’ times.  Those swimmers who achieved the new time standard were Laura Rathjen, Chelbi Smith, Caitlin Koranda, Jeffrey Nichols, Liam Veazey, Andrew Harvey and Burke Wiggins.

The Woodlands, TX was invaded by 33 Mustang athletes for the Texas Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS).  These athletes did the Mustang name proud with a 10th place finish among all the teams in the state.  Scott Weeks led the way by compiling the second highest point total for a 13-14 year old boy.  The team was once again powered by their strength in the relay events.

The Mustangs then traveled to Houston, TX for the Long Course Speedo Sectional Championships.  The Mustangs would claim yet another Sectional crown by outdistancing the second place team by almost 300 points.  Leading the way were Spin Beck, Clint Hallum and Jonathon Berrettini who claimed individual event victories.  Also contributing valuable individual points were - Mel Futscher, Meredith Grubb, Bolton Harris, Alexandra Jennings, Leah Jones, Jordan Newman, Erin Smith, Maddie Steiner, Alicia Stevens, Bailey Thompson, Keegan Watters, Meaghan Watters, John Aselton, John Bannon, Colin Carpenter, Jack Dwyer, Tim French. John Kalivas, and Jamie Slater.

The team continued their strong season at the United States Junior National Championships held in Irvine, CA.  Matt Thompson led the way to a 2nd place finish on the men’s side, and a 5th place finish in the overall team standings.  Also turning in great individual performances at the meet were Alyssa Landino, Meredith Monroe, Catia Weickgenant, Kannon Betzen, Nick Kalivas, Matt Thompson, Max Murphy, Clint Hallum, Caleb Veazey and Jack Dwyer.

Also in Irvine, CA the Mustangs competed against the best the nation has to offer during the ConocoPhillips U.S. Summer Nationals.  The nine members of the team who competed in the meet were able to capture 23rd in the overall team standings.  The highlight of the meet was Matt Thompson winning the 18 and under national championship in the 100 back.  Candace Blackman, Jennifer Blackman, Katie Roberts, Leane Darling, Jenny Basil, Nate Clark, Justin Smith, and Brett Dunham also represented the Mustangs in Irvine.

 Short Course Championships

At the B/C Championships held at Loos Natatorium the Mustangs finished in 2nd place out of 25 teams.  The team swam their way to numerous best times and achieved higher time standards than ever before.  Those swimmers winning an event at the meet were:

The Mustangs continued their success with a 7th place finish out of more than 70 teams at the Texas Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS).  Scott Weeks claimed two individual state titles to lead the way for the Mustangs.  Harrison Tran, Jake Watters, Luke Blaylock, Scott Weeks, John Aselton, Taylor Temple and Kendall Williams also contributed with individual point scoring swims.

 

At the Short Course Speedo Sectional Championships in College Station, TX the Mustangs finished in 4th place in the team competition.  Spin Beck turned in the most impressive individual performance for the team with victories in the 200 IM and 200 Breast.  Other point scoring swims for the Mustangs were turned in by Clint Hallum, Lauren Roth, Alyssa Landino, Max Murphy, Matt Thompson, Meredith Monroe, Meredith Grubb, Spindrift Beck, Molly Bollen, and Kannon Betzen.

A group of 10 swimmers traveled to Federal Way, WA to compete in the Spring National Championships.  The Mustangs captured a 7th place finish out of all the teams in the nation.  Clint Hallum, Alyssa Landino, Meredith Monroe, Spindrft Beck, Matt Thompson, Max Murhpy, Molly Bollen, and Kannon Betzen all represented the Mustangs in individual events
