Long Course Championships
The Mustangs sent 35 swimmers to Austin,
TX to compete in the Texas Age Group
Swimming Championships (TAGS). These
athletes represented the Mustangs well with a 13th place finish in the overall
standings out of 63 teams. The
individuals who led the way for the Mustangs were Taylor Temple, Audrey Gruber
and Natalie Rathjen.
The team continued its impressive run at the Long Course Speedo
Sectional Championships in San Antonio,
TX. The Mustangs powered their way to a dominant
1st place finish, outscoring the 2nd place team by almost
250 points. Strong relays and some
stellar individual performances helped the Mustangs cause. The swimmers scoring for the Mustangs were Kannon Betzen, Lauren Roth, Allsion Arnold, Catia Weickgenant, Maddie Steiner,
Megan Arnold, Stephanie Martin, Grace Kittle, Molly Bollen,
Hannah Ferrin, Scott Weeks, Lamar Weeks, Clint Hallum, Caleb Veazey, Nick Kalivas and Andrew Tran.
At
the ConocoPhillips U.S. Summer Nationals in Indianapolis, IN 17 swimmers represented the
Mustangs. Relays once again led the way
for the Mustangs to place 13th out of all of the teams in the
country. Matt Thompson claimed another
18 and under national title in the 100 back.
The other swimmers who represented the club in Indianapolis were Jennifer Basel, Spindrift
Beck, Candace Blackman, Jennifer Blackman, Meredith Monroe, Katie Roberts,
Jonathon Berrettini, Travis Callaghan, Nate Clark,
Brett Denham, Mitchell Johnson, Jerr Merritt, Shane Milu, Max Murphy, Maverick Smalley and Justin Smith.
The
Mustangs completed the summer season with their biggest team victory to
date. The Mustangs sent 19 swimmers to
the United States Junior National Championships and came away in 1st
place out of 361 of the top teams in the country. Those who led the charge for the Mustangs
with individual point scoring swims were Spin Beck, Kannon
Betzen, Meredith Monroe, Clint Hallum,
Max Murphy, Matt Thompson, and Caleb Veazey. Also contributing to the championship victory
were Allison Arnold, Leah Jones, Grace Kittle, Stephanie Martin, Lauren Roth, Maddie Steiner, Catia Weickgenant, John Bannon, Andrew
Tran, Lamar Weeks, Scott Weeks, and Eric Zeller.
Short Course Championships
Once again the Mustangs scored a top 10 finish at the Texas Age Group Swimming
Championships (TAGS) in Austin,
TX. Twenty Nine Mustang swimmers led the team to
a 10th place finish out of more than 60 teams across the state. Leading the way for the Mustangs were Allison
Arnold (5 individual titles, 14 year old girls high point), and Taylor Temple
(1 individual title). Other individual
point scoring swimmers for the Mustangs were Audrey Gruber, Jacey
Hodan, Ann-Claire Karalyos,
Malin Kenny, Sam Murphy, Lauren Murski,
Harrison Tran, Jake Watters and Kendall Williams.
The Mustangs again had a strong showing at the Short Course Speedo
Sectional Championships coming away with a 2nd place finish. Both Spin Beck and Matt Thompson again paved
the way for the Mustangs with multiple individual titles. The following swimmers also contributed
points to the teams cause - Clint Hallum, Caleb Veazey, Allison Arnold, Lauren Roth, Scott Weeks, Meredith
Monroe, Max Murphy, Catia Weickgenant,
Lamar Weeks, Grace Kittle, Stephanie Martin, Nick Kalivas,
Kannon Betzen, Jack Dwyer
and John Bannon.
Thirteen Mustangs traveled to Long
Island, NY to compete
in the Spring
National Championships. The team swam away
with a 5th place finish largely due to strong relays. Matt Thompson led the way on the men’s side
finishing in the top eight in four events, and Spin Beck had three top eight
finishes on the women’s side. Other
Mustangs competing at the event were Allison Arnold, Kannon
Betzen, Grace Kittle, Meredith Monroe, Lauren Roth, Maddie Steiner, Jack Dwyer, Cling Hallum,
Max Murphy, Caleb Veazey, and Lamar Weeks.
