Mustangs Bring Home Flag for 2004 Long Course TAGS!

Held in Austin, TX – July 21-25, 2004

TAGS is the culminating championship across Texas for age-group swimming (ages 9-14). Summer TAGS was held at the fast Joe Jamail Swim Center in Austin. Our Mustangs swam great finishing ninth in the team race bringing home a coveted TAGS Flag (out of over sixty clubs).

Congratulations to Matt Thompson who medaled in 6 individual events among 13-14 boys. This included three first place gold medals. The events, with those that Matt finished first in italics, were - 200 Back, 400 Free, 400 IM, 200 IM, 100 Back, 200 Free. In the 100 Back Matt established a new meet record - - great going Matt!

Spectacular Lauren Roth! Lauren brought home medals in five individual events among 13-14 girls (400 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 200IM, 400IM). Lauren was a key contributor to 5 Mustang relays scoring valuable points for the team (see relays below).

Great going Spin Beck! Spin medaled in five individual events among 13-14 girls (200 Breast, 400 IM, 100 Breast, 200 IM). Spin was also a member of 5 point scoring Mustang relays mentioned previously.

Caleb Veazey – Animal Lane candidate! Caleb got our team off to a great start on day 1 and then helped cement our top ten finish with medal winning swims in the 13-14 boys 800 & 1500 Freestyles.

Stephanie Martin contributed to DM’s success with medal winning swims in the 13-14 Girls 100 & 200 Breaststoke. Meg Austin medaled in the 13-14 Girls 200 Breaststoke as well. Congratulations to Eric Futscher for his medal winning swim in the Boys 10 & Under 100 Breaststroke.
