Mustang 2003 Long Course Championship Teams!

We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the following Dallas Mustangs for qualifying to participate in the following season ending competitions!

Texas Age Group Championship (TAGS)

Held in Austin, TX July 23-27

This event is the culminating championship across Texas for age-group swimming (ages 9-14). Summer TAGS was held at the fast Joe Jamail Swim Center in Austin. An extra day was added to the format in an attempt to give the swimmers more rest in between events. The meet was well run and the Mustangs swam great and took advantage of the fast pool. We finished sixth in the team race bringing home a coveted TAGS Flag (out of over sixty clubs).

Special kudos to our 13-14 Girls relays of Caroline Barnett, Molly Bollen, Meredith Monroe, and Maddie Steiner, who set State Records in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. They also set a North Texas Record in the 400 free relay. Not to be outdone by the 13-14 girls, twelve-year old Spindrift Beck won the three 11-12 age group breastroke events (50, 100, 200) setting a state record in the 200 breast in the process.

Texas Senior Circuit Championships

Held in Austin, TX July 17-20

This championship is one of the most prestigious meets held each summer with many Olympic and NCAA swimmers competing. This year over 40 teams from Texas and around the country attended. Our Mustangs had a great meet finishing fifth overall.

Speedo Sectionals

Held in Southlake, TX July 30 – Aug 3

This summer’s Sectionals team finished 8^th out of over 60 teams from all over the USA. The individual scorers were Adriane Devereux, Jennifer Blackman, Spin Beck, Matt Waghorst, Eric Gusa, Andrew Hansen, and Justin Stephenson.

Those relay swimmers who scored points were Adriane Devereux, Kate Gunning, Meredith Grubb, Kenley Woods, Caroline Jennings, Nicole Keller, Lauren Roth, Julia Tucker-Huth, Meredith Monroe, Erika Saito, Spin Beck, Micheal Carriaga, Byron Carlisle, Eric Gusa, Justin Stephenson, Andrew Hansen, Fabian Toth, and Griffin Marshall.

The rest of this summer’s Sectional team were Jennifer Penley, Beth Geis, Reagan Marshall, Brooke Louisell, Maggie Marshall, Grace Kittle, Laura Kock, Matt Primeaux, Kenneth Wherry, and Jeff Bensen.

Summer Nationals

Held in College Park, MD August 5-9

This event places the best swimmers from across the United States into competition.

The Dallas Mustangs Women’s team finished 36^th overall. The following relay swimmers scored points – Candace Blackman, Jennifer Blackman, Codie Hansen, and Dallas Marshall.
