The Dallas Mustangs were well represented in the 2001 All-Area Swim High School Swim Team announced by the Dallas Morning News on Sunday, April 22nd, 2001.
Heading the list was Candace Blackman. Candace was honored as the Newcomer of the Year. Candace, a freshman at Highland Park High School, captured both a 1st in the 200 Free and 100 Fly at the 4A State Finals. As lead-off for the HP 200 and 400 free relays she set a new 4A record in the 50 Free and tied the state record (all levels) in the 100 Free. Her times in the 200 Free and 100 Fly were the best in the state this year, regardless of level of competition.
